Message from NOS President / Organizing Chair

Dear Distinguished Guests, Esteemed, Participants, and Friends,

It is with great joy and anticipation that I welcome you to the Annual Nepal Ophthalmic Society Conference 2024, to be held in the religious and monumental city of Kathmandu (Kastamandap), known as the "City of Temples," on the 29th and 30th of November. This year's theme, "Celebrating and Unfolding the Science of Ophthalmology," encapsulates our collective dedication to advancing eye care and exploring the ever-evolving horizons of our field.

Kathmandu, a city steeped in history and culture, offers a unique backdrop for our conference. Known for its ancient temples, vibrant festivals, and rich heritage, Kathmandu is not only a center for spiritual and cultural enrichment but also a burgeoning hub for scientific and medical advancements. As we gather in this remarkable city, we are reminded of the importance of integrating tradition with innovation, a philosophy that resonates deeply with our theme.

"Celebrating and Unfolding the Science of Ophthalmology" is a theme that encourages us to reflect on our past achievements while eagerly anticipating future breakthroughs. It is a call to honor the advancements we have made in understanding and treating eye diseases, while also recognizing the limitless potential that lies ahead. This theme invites us to celebrate the progress in ophthalmology and to unfold new scientific insights and innovations that will shape the future of eye care.

This conference serves as a premier platform for ophthalmologists, researchers, and eye care professionals to convene, share their knowledge, and engage with the latest scientific developments and technological innovations. Over these two days, we will immerse ourselves in an array of keynote lectures, panel discussions, and interactive workshops designed to foster learning, collaboration, and innovation.

We are privileged to host a distinguished lineup of speakers from around the world, each bringing their unique expertise and insights. Their contributions will undoubtedly enhance our understanding and inspire us to push the boundaries of ophthalmic science and practice. From cutting-edge research on retinal diseases to breakthroughs in surgical techniques, this conference promises to deliver valuable knowledge and stimulate thought-provoking discussions.

Beyond the scientific sessions, we have curated numerous networking opportunities to facilitate meaningful interactions and collaborations. These connections are invaluable as they allow us to share experiences, discuss challenges, and build partnerships that will enhance the quality of eye care services in Nepal and beyond. The spirit of Kathmandu, with its harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, provides the perfect environment for such fruitful exchanges.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the organizing committee for their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts in bringing this conference to fruition. Their hard work ensures that our gathering will be a resounding success, providing a platform for growth, discovery, and professional development.

As we gather in Kathmandu, I encourage all participants to fully engage with the wealth of knowledge and expertise that will be shared. Let us celebrate our achievements, unfold new scientific insights, and continue our collective journey to improve vision health for all.

I look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be an enlightening and inspiring conference. Together, let us celebrate and unfold the science of ophthalmology, making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
